Re: Speer .30 150gr DeepCurl
Thanks guys. The flex tip bullets interest me but I've heard some people were having issue's with OAL being too long to use in .307. I also wanted to try the 200gr .35 in my .356, but was concerned about having the same issues. SO can anyone verify that these bullets work in the Winchester rifles? A...

Anyone have a chance to try this bullet out yet? I jsut picked up a box on the weekend, gonna load some up for my .307. I imagine they are built with the 30-30 in mind, but I think they should be ok in the .307 as well. I also got some 150gr PowerPoints,130gr Speer FP and 130gr Hornady Spitzers. I t...

I bought a Savage 99F in .308 from a friend and picked it up today. Turns out I got a problem. To be fair,he warned me that it had suddenly become erratic in the accuracy department. I saw a slight crack in the tang area of the butt, a loose forend and a dirty barrel. I figured no problem, I'll get ...

Re: G&A Leverguns Vs. Bolts
One area the levergun trumps the bolt for me is for bear defense in the bush. Went on a elk/moose hunt in grizzly country here a couple weeks ago,and I took along my BB94 .444 and my M700 .270. I figured since rifle season for elk was open the last few days,I'd carry the .270 during those days in ca...

Nath- to make them jam what I do is work the lever till the round pops up on the carrier. I then close the bolt about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way before moving it back again. It's actually hard to do,so I slide the first cartridge into the chamber so I can see down into the action. If I work the lever bac...

I think I may try to fix the .444 and take it. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to take my welder to the .356! It just got so bad that I had no choice, and luckily it turned out well. The .444 hasn't been nearly as bad so I've been putting it off. Question-whats the best way to remove the ...

If I don't trust the .444 to be reliable,I'll probably take the .356. Like I said, most of the time we'll be bowhunting and the rifle will be for bear defense. The rifle will only be used for hunting the last few days if the bowhunting has been unsuccessful. I have no doubts about the ability of any...

Re: Does this look normal-Pt 2
xxclaro, The front sight IS tilted to the RIGHT as you look down the sights from the shouldered position . This indicates the barrel is not properly indexed. Looks to me like Winchester didn't tighten it all the way. Now to confirm this take a section of cleaning rod, or a short piece of dowel rod ...

Alright, I got the .375 back out and had another look at it. To the naked eye, it looks okay at first. How is your arrow flight? If the bow is poorly tuned and the arrow is fishtailing, you'll loose a lot of your penetration. An arrow that impacts nice and straight will penetrate much better than one that impacts even a bit sideways. I shoot almost exactly the same specs as you do, and penetration is...

The entry was about bullet diameter, hard to tell becuase it hit the bone and made a bit of a mess. The exit was about 1.5, but took out a rib on hte way out too, so that may hae made it bigger.
