Re: HUMOR: Cali to Wy Travel Translation guide...

Today most of you Californians wouldn't want to live in Wyoming. We had a low here around -20 and winds ranging up to 25-35 mph. that means a windchills in the -40s to -50s. The neighbor's dog went out to pee, and couldn't drop his leg.

Re: OT- Mosin-Nagant

20+ years ago when I worked in Woolworth's that had a gun counter, we had some of the pre war (pre world war 1?) rifles, and they were marked Westinghouse on the receivers. Haven't seen any like them since. If I recall correctly they were going for about 60-70 bucks back then.

Re: Yeah, wolves aren't dangerous...........

Well if the tree huggers are so excited about re-introducing wolves, why didn't they do it in central park? They should have the opportunity to enjoy the cute puppies too! Nobody in Wyoming, Montana or Idaho wanted wolves back in Yellowstone, and now they've spread like the vermin they are. Within 1...

Your comments have me half convinced to give the pyrodex away rather than try and use it. But then again maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.

Re: Pyrodex lever carbine loads

Guess I'll have to find some of the blackpowder type lube. I've seen some of the cast bullet sellers that lube with that. You hate to see good powder go to waste, but maybe its more expensive to get all the right ingredients.

Pyrodex lever carbine loads

Anybody out there got a good plinking load using pyrodex CTG in a 44 mag lever? I have some 200 grain cast bullets I want to use, but have some questions as to what primer to use with it. :?:

Rock Springs of course. Saw lots of nice bucks while out chicken hunting Saturday, some not nervous at all- could have almost got one with my shotgun. I need to put in for that area next year - Antelope. Even saw a few deer. :D

We used to hunt elk up in the gap- usually around Mill creek and Wildcat butte. Haven't been up there in years. Need to take a drive up that way and see that country again. We enjoy the country around the Big Sandy ranch too.

Re: What was your first lever gun and single action revolver ...

Ithaca 49R, in .22 lr, for my birthday when I was 12,hasn't been functional since the late 1970's and still can't find parts to fix it. Ruger single six purchased in 1975, .22 lr with the .22 mag extra cylinder, 6 1/2 inch barrel. never has shot real well, but I don't want to sell it either. It just...

Talked to some associates from Lander today, and they said they saw a nice bunch of elk up on top of south pass. They said they often hang around the old iron ore mine site. They also said that next season they're planning an "any elk" tag for that general area. It is some rough country on...

You enjoy Yuma when its 120 outside and your air conditioner craps out. Here in Wyoming we rarely get above 95 most years! Besides, how the heck do you snowmobile on sand? It just don't work for me! :D

Re: OT - Lincoln Highway and original 1869 UPRR Grade

Bet you're looking somewhere close to Hanna, WY. I have some old mine mapping from the UPRR that shows the approximate location of the Lincoln Highway in relation to the 1920ish or before mines around Hanna, but the same information is available on the WYDEQ abandoned mine lands reclamation web site...

Re: OT Hurricane supplies

One question, OK 2- how ya gonna get to all that stuff when your house is under 6 feet of water? Better yet, how long will it take to pack it up and move it to a dry place? Do you have at least 2-3 days worth of stuff where you can grab it and go if you have to evacuate?

They had a young mountain lion caught in a residential neighborhood in or near Salt Lake City, UT last week. It had to be young because it was dumb enough to be caught by the Fish & Game people. That's not the first time they've had problems there either. They keep pushing their subdivisions up ...

I have an old marlin model 75C that they haven't made in 20 years- looks just like the model 60, but with a short barrel. Its no tack driver, but it does everything I need. I need to try out Paco's accurizer. I've shot all kinds of ammo through it, and still like the federal cheapo stuff about the b...

Guns and Ammo was boring and repetative 20 years ago, and they haven't changed much since. Once in a great while they come up with a good issue, but Often times its just a bunch of recycled articles that were done decades ago by writers who knew what they were doing!
