Another goodun with Sam Elliot is "Once an Eagle" Though not a western, a fine WWII movie.
I have seen all the Sam Elliot Westerns. They are all good.

Re: Marlin 336 Texans
The original Texans were made from 53 to 83 in various barrel lengths but most consider any straight gripped 336, a Texan. The least common is the Marauder, 63-64. The SRC was produced along with standard guns. Other straight grips were produced in the later 80s. I can not remember when a straight g...

I recently bought a Ruger LCP. It is small, concealable, de-horned, low recoil and mine shoots well. I plan to buy one for the wife.

Of course guns harm people. He said college campuses and small communities could be "potential incubators of terrorism" even while major cities such as New York and Los Angeles remain primary targets for terrorists. College campuses could be anti terrorist gun friendly zone! Potential mean...

Re: OT - Joe Horn Cleared By Pasadina (TX) Grand Jury
I was hoping the good people of our state would not indict him. Victory for Joe and common sense. The last paragraph of Don Tomas' post says much. Our government should take heed and deal with the illegals in our country. Aside from the shooting itself, the national debate revolved around the fact t...

Great Idea. If components keep getting higher, we'll all get a little more inventive. And the best thing of all is that you've got VITTLES for the next 3 or 4 days!!

GK, Eating squirrels takenwith shot is hard on the teeth. I certainly would prefer something accurate inthe 22 short or even an air rifle ( I have a 40 year old Sheridan that thumps limb rats with ease) We call grey squirrels "cat" squirrels here while the red squirrels are "fox"...

Reloads and misfires are due to the occasional deep primer pocket. Most every used gun I buy will be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled. You'd be surprised how much crud collects in the firing pin channel.

Re: Reading NRAs top ten rifles, & heres my top ten
I have often wondered why the Winchester Model 70 would be listed as #1. If this gun is "the Rifleman's Rifle" how come are there multiple times the amount of Remingtons out there? Seems to me if it were that good, everyone would have one or two, they would have never been discontinued or ...

Re: Marlin 336RC misfires and now bolt won't close
Ed, Are you shooting reloads? If the sizing or seating isn't just right your bolt may not close without a little extra force. Disassembly is very easy. I'd try it before taking it to a smith. Did the gun just start doing this of late? Ammo brand? New bullet? Will it close without a round inthe chamb...

Re: OT - Hunting Handgun Thoughts
I have used Ruger Blackhawks in 44 and 45 to take TX whitetails. Either will work fine. I am surprised that the Bisley was not mentioned. I prefer it over the BH and SBH gripframes. As JimT said, bigbores are more forgiving and choose the model you shoot best.

I am fortunate to have a few of the things once owned by my maternal grandfather. He was a carpenter-rancher-horsetrainer in Washington County, Texas.
