How about a 9 mil and a .22 conversion unit for same.

Then the same trick for an AR.

Re: Murdered on the Ferry

There's a old university urban legend... Supposedly, decades before DNA, some scientist was doing research on blood typing for some reason. And came to find out that, just based on blood type (i.e., ABO) alone, some shockingly high percentage of the people he studied could not possibly have been the...

Also of note, these bad boys were the standard arm of the North Woods from 'bout when they started making them up until maybe the 1970's. And why not.

Re: oldest or earliest born folks you talked to

I remember being a little kid and hanging around the country general store listening to the World War One vets (who were the same age as Vietnam vets are today). They'd say "oh, those dummies -- if we hadn't gone over there they'd still be fighting!" Some historians have lately validated t...

Re: Why We Don't Have a .41 Keith

I'd like to see a .41 *Special* in a Python, GP100, maybe even a K frame?.

It shouldn't be that hard to put a .41 cartridge in a .41 frame.

Re: Giraud Tri-Way trimmer

The online manual says: The preferred method of trimming using this tool is to orient the tool such that the case is pressed in to the tool using a straight downward or angled downward motion. I'm having trouble understanding how to do that with a cordless drill as a power source. Can someone please...

Re: IFAK / First Aid

would you guys buy a pre-filled first aid kit, or put together one of your own. Put one together myself. Most premade kits are heavy on minor boo-boos, and somewhere between light and "not present" on major stuff. You can buy better ones, but any of the heavy duty ones I am aware of have ...

To be fair, that guy shot that buck like eight or nine times.

On the other hand, although I certainly don't need another caliber to reload, I keep hearing the .25-20's siren song.

Re: From the Old Days

I got ahold of some of these back in the 80's. I intended to shoot them in one of those old .22 Mag High Standard Double Derringers or whatever they were called, like shooting Specials in a Magnum. Could barely close the action, took quite a bit of effort. My impression was that the rim thickness wa...

Re: ATF Now Proposing Rule to Require Registering Powder Storage!

One of the VFD's around here (not mine) got called to a house fire. Homeowner is standing outside when they get there, says "I'm a reloader and my powder and primers are right behind that window there". Them country boys on that department knew exactly what that meant. They got water throu...

Re: Thoughts on pocket knives.

I had a serrated Spyderco Native since the 90's. I lost it a year or two ago on a Fire call. And when you lose something on a Fire call, it is gone baby gone. darn I miss that blade. As far as I'm concerned, a full serrated Native is the best light/medium utility blade there is. Yeah, you can open i...

Re: Remington 742, a classic deer rifle

These were high maintenance rifles due to blowback entering the action and locking surfaces. Big gunstore around here used to offer (and probably still does) a service to convert 74X's to pump action. Probably not the world's worst idea. I do not own a pump action rifle, and never have. I should fi...

With 38 Specials (or 44 Specials in the 44 mag) I go with 2 Shooter mode, chamber the first round and then load the second in the tube.
Cool hack, thanks!

While we are talking about Rossi 92's, what's chances of one feeding flush loaded .38 wadcutters? I usually have a bunch of such lying around, so it would be nice to be able to use them. I've gotten the understanding, from lurking here in the past, that it's kind of coin flip if wadcutters will work...

At risk of stating the obvious, the phenomena that piller experienced is poorly understood. Here's a recent article about it.
