It is what I don't like about 2400. A little unburnt powder is not unusual, but... "a good bit" is less than accurate. Have you chono'd your loads to see if you're getting consistent velocities? Try backing off a grain or so, see what happens, as that seems like a fairly warm load, back do...

It generally goes the heavier, slower load spends more time in the barrel so the bullet path is more affected by the muzzle rise during recoil. I agree with Steve & Joe, (I gotta type faster) , probably over.

Are you SURE its a std height front blade? The top of the blade should measure abt. .75" above the centerline of the bore, that should allow you to use the 2nd step on the elevator with the standard rear sight. (Using the short carbine step elevator).

Accurate Powder's AA5744 is a bulky powder and can give good performance in the .45Colt. Email them and they'll send you some recommended loads.

A LOT of SASS folks swear by IMR Trail Boss. I feel it's on the expensive side and tend to stick with my RedDot.

? for you guys posting about using the Lee Production Pot, Lyman, etc; are you using your casting pot to melt the raw wheel weights into ingots?
