Hmmmm, since he doesn't do Colts, Where would one buy American Holly in a large enough chunk to make a pair of one-piece grips for one's '51 Navy? Dunno. I'm about to send the grip frame of my Cimarron 1872 Open Top to Bar S for some TruIvory. I've been contemplating that also, but w/three to have ...

The only time canting a firearm worked with any degree of repeatibility and accuracy was when I was in-country during VN. I carried a Thompson 1928-A1 w/30 rnd stick mags. By holding it w/the mag base pointed to the left, muzzle jump (caused mainly by the bolt slamming rearward), was more efectively...

With enough levers to outfit a couple of squads, I have yet to wrap one with leather. Not because of any animus, as I like the look, but I have rather fat fingers and have no real need to do so. However, I do recall a mention that certain tanning chemicals are to be avoided in contact with metal par...

I have 3 Rossis. 2 from the days of Interarms, and an EMF imported one. All three functioned fine out of the box, but using them for cowboy action shooting they required some slicking up and refitting to maintain their reliability. I've not had the opportunity to fondle one of the ArmiSport (Italian...

I think the flatter versions work best for quick target acquisition. However, several guys swear by tang peep sights. I just think that you're likely to overlook a target or 5 if you leave a blind spot on yer rear sight. But, since I've never tried, I really don't KNOW. My son used this version on h...

Generally speaking, the run-of-the-mill, NIB Colt SAA is nicely finished, (as good as they get), will shoot, function and give YEARS of good trouble-free service.
