Re: OT - poll of sorts - DSL, RR, Hughsnet or dial up?

I live along a seldom traveled rural road and am lucky to even have dial-up....We just got a private phone line a few years ago...Thought about satellite internet but I can't se spending $60/ month.

Re: Tell me about BLRs in 358 Winchester

I've owned two BLR's in 358...The first was an early steel gun and it shot 1 1/2" with Winchester 200 gr. Silvertips..I shot two buck with it in two years and they both dropped at the shot...After another year or so, it developed a glitch where the gear mechanism would not close all the way eve...

Re: Firestorm of controversy,...30WCF vs 32 Win Spl

To make a long story short, I was caught in the line of fire beyond where a hunter was taking a shot at a running red fox (legal at the time)...The slug hit me low in the chest, coursed through the edge of my right lung and stopped in the back of my rib cage..Spun me right around and felt like someo...

Re: Firestorm of controversy,...30WCF vs 32 Win Spl

I was in an unfortunate hunting accident when I was 18 on the last day of Pa. deer season and can say from experience that even though a 32 Special dosen't kill very well, it does indeed hurt and the hole it puts in you does leak..I sure am glad the guy wasn't shooting an '06 or a 270, perhaps I'd b...

Re: The BEST long range levergun?

For long range hunting the Winchester Model 88 or Savage 99 in 284 Win. would be hard to beat.

The flea market that I go to will have anaverage of twenty or so guns each week...They all want high prices but will usually come down about $30-$40 when you "flash the cash"...Quite a bit of old ammo , you just have to get to it before someone else does...There are a lot of shooting hobbi...

Yard sales and flea markets

Is anyone getting any deals at these things?...Last week I got 4 1/2 boxes of factory 32 Winchester Special ammo for $20....Yesterday I got two more boxes of 32 Special Silvertips for $10 (from two different guys). To add to the above, yesterday another fellow had a 1968 Model 94 -32 Special on a tab...

As of late I have gotten more "lemons" in the Remington 700 line then I did in the previous decades of buying and shooting a large number of Model 700 rifles...I bought two Model 700's in 243, and could not coax better than 1 1/2" out of either one at 100 yards, even after extensive l...

Recoil doesn't bother me...I weigh 140 lb. and I shoot whitetail doe with a 375 H&H........This "brush gun" ..does it have a carbine length barrel (under 22")? It looked short in the pictures...I have several other 358 rifles: a BLR and a Winchester 88...recoil in them seems simil...

Thanks fellas....I have never owned a Savage Model 99...But being an avid Winchester 88, 64, and 94 collector, and any classic deer rifle for that matter, it just felt like time to go get a Savage 99.....Had to have either a 358 or a 250/3000 to get the ball rolling on my "soon to be" Sava...
