I had a 30-30 Marlin that suddenly became inaccurate. I discovered that the rifle had developed a ring in the barrel since the last range session. I never found the cause but I suspect that a spider had built a nest in the barrel.

Details, details, Joe is absolutely right, it works like a transfer bar but it does NOT transfer anything. However if it is removed the gun is unsafe because there is no half-cock safety. The solution would be to install an older hammer that has a half-cock notch.

I have 357, 44-40, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt in Marlins and Winchesters. The 357 is my truck/walk around gun. The 357/38 Spec. is more fun to shoot, cost less to shoot, and is much quieter. For a truck gun I would get a used Rossi or whatever is cheaper and not beat up a high dollar Browning.
