OT - Way OT, not even in the ball park. I need a fan part
Very, Way OT, not even in the ball park. I need a fan part fabricated. I have an old Westinghouse oscillating fan that works better than any of the new junk. But the part that connects the base to the motor and the oscillator parts has broken. I've epoxied it once and it broke again. This part is ma...

Val, Thanks, now I'm beginning to see. When you get a chance could you take some clear up close pics of those sights? I've got a couple links to places that sell these old types but they don't show the sights you and Leverdude are showing me. Do you have any links to sources for those sights? I do k...

Skinner Front Sight question
I know what rear sights I'm going to use on my lever guns as soon as I can get them D&T'd. But the front sights are the questions. I do not want the bead sights, they gotta go. I've decided I want a narrow blade or post sight, so I was checking out the Skinner front sights and think I might orde...

Levergun sights, late 1800s to early 1900s.
This question is for those of us who collect and shoot the old leverguns. I've seen many with small post type sights on them, both rifle and carbines. Then I've seen less with bead sights. My question is which is, or was the most common sight used on the lever guns of this time period? If I don't ha...

cubrock, The first time I looked at your pics the one of the rear sight didn't show. After looking it and the front sight over, here's what I think. The bead has been filed off the front sight leaving a black disc. The rear sight used to be a Semi Buckhorn or a Full Buckhorn sight that has been file...

otteray, I know it's not a direct answer, but the phone number to Williams is: 1-800-530-9028. I just called Williams and talked with a tech who has been there 30 years. He said that there is no immediately available documentation to go by, but as far as he knows the 5D was introduced in the late 40s for either Win 94, or the 70. The FP series followed in the early 50's. He also said these si...

sobenk this is secondhand, but a friend of mine got rid of his lyman for an FP because it became crooked. Apparently there is no support to where the Lyman hangs over the receiver, and it can get bent. The Williams, on the other hand, has something supporting it on top so it is stronger. The older ...

Craig, When mine was new I could fill the magazine tube full of the old Winchester 22 Short black powder blanks and lever them through as fast as I wanted too. Then as time passed I found a box of Remington shorts and fired them. I had quite a few of them fall off the front of the bolt both on the c...

Kirk, I've got both the Lyman 66A and the Williams FP 94/36 on my Win 94s. I would strongly suggest that you consider the 66A and FP as basically the same type and quality. The 5D however is not. Both the Lyman 66 series and the Williams FP series has the micrometer click adjustments that are secure...

Pete, I got mine in 1980, it was pristine. Brand new in the box, even with the hang tags. (Still got the owners manual and hang tags, box is long ago gone.) That was before a trigger job, had that set at 2.5 pounds, and the installation of a Williams FP rear sight. Now lots of rounds downrange later...

Eric, I've used Unique for a very long time. Usually I use either 8.0 or 9.0 with the 250gr and then 255gr to 270gr bullet. 7.0 with a 200gr bullet should be a decent load. As far as smoke with Unique it all depends on the bullet lube. Certain lubes with Unique smoke like crazy. One of the worst off...
