Re: Turnbull 1886's

I know that they can do SGB, as my 475 1886 has shotgun butt. Personally, I wanted the oct barrel to help with recoil control. I'm sure that they can do a round bbl. All it takes is money!

Re: Turnbull 1886's

I have one of their 86s in 475. It is an awesome rifle that shoots just as good as it looks. They are fanstastic rifles that are reliable, dependable, and accurate.

I highly recommend them.

Re: OT a Little The .358 Winchester Bolt

Great story!

I too hunt with a 358. Had it out for PA black bear and deer over the last few weeks. I load a 225 gr bullet (either Sierra or Barnes TSX, depending on the rifle). I actually have 4-5 rifles in that caliber. Great round.

Have fun in the Spring!!

Re: Stolen guns, Dallas SCI show this past weekend...

ModDoc ED - You're right. It wasn't meant as an accusation, merely an answer to Terry's question but I realize how it reads. Just to clarify... I heard this from the person who's guns were stolen (Turnbull Restoration), off of their table, overnight. I am not in any position to make any accusations,...

Re: Stolen guns, Dallas SCI show this past weekend...

I agree with you guys.

Apparently, there was a security lapse when the night time cleaning crew was taking "stuff" out to the dumpsters during their nightly clean-up. Nobody was monitoring what they were taking out to dump.

Stolen guns, Dallas SCI show this past weekend...

Guys, These guns were stolen from Doug Turnbull at the Dallas SCI show this last week. If you can please be on the lookout for these and don't hesitate to pass the word around. Anyone with any info can contact the office at Turnbull's or send me the info and I will forward to them. Thanx in advance ...

Re: Birthdate question on my Marlin '93, Now with Pics!

Yep, sounds like a 20's vintage carbine. The "Marlin Firearms Corporation" stamp started in 1922 (I think). I just sold one in almost identical condition, with the same markings and an LXXX serial number and I had it as mid-20's vintage gun. Nice little gun. They are a hoot to shoot. BB45C

Re: Have you ever seen a Marlin 1894S "THE LIMITED"

Yep, I have one in 45 Colt. Cool little rifle. Quite accurate as well. I believe they were made in 1997. Marlin also used that 45 Colt model as a commemorative for the Ohio Gun Collectors' Association (OGCA). It has an OGCA-prefix serial number and some unique markings/stampings which I don't recall...

Re: New to me Marlin 1881...just sharing

Thanks, guys, I appreciate it. I'll take a picture of some rounds and post them tomorrow. The trigger is set by pulling the rear trigger back. This gives the front trigger a VERY light trigger pull. You can use the front trigger as a normal trigger (ie without setting it with the rear trigger), it j...

New to me Marlin 1881...just sharing

I had been chasing this 1881 for over a year when, this past summer, I thought I had finally nailed it down with some trading fodder that the owner wanted. I actually had gone out, found, and purchased 2 of the guns the seller wanted in trade when he tells me that he had struck a deal with someone e...

Re: OT--Allentown Pa. Show

Hey Sixgun, it was good seeing you again. There sure where a lot of goodies on that Turnbull table. I had a great weekend sitting there, listening, seeing and learning from everyone that stopped by and asked questions (and there were many!!). Keith is a great guy and really knows his stuff. He deliv...

jumbeaux, Just got caught up on my PMs, been tied up with work. No problem at all, stuff happens. It's really no big deal. PM or call me if things change and you get the funds together and still want to buy the rifle. But, please, don't sweat it. There are bigger things in life to worry about. Take ...

Re: Me & The Boys Went Shootin'(Lots of Pics)

Thanks for posting the pics, sixgun. yes, it was indeed a great time. I think the BSing was just as much fun, if not more, than the lead slinging. Though, I have to admit, it was nice shooting Cyrus' Winchester Winder, Cas' AR-45, Uncowboy's 358 Win and his 480 Ruger....so I guess getting to shoot o...
