.44-40 reloading tool

After much searching, I finally found a decent reloading tool in .44-40. We won't use this one to load any ammo, but I thought it would be a nice accessory to have for our 1873. Would anyone with knowledge about these tools share some information? Does anyone still use these? http://home.comcast.net...

Re: COST OF 22 RIMFIRE

Matbe the supply situation is easing up. Went in the Wal Mart on the way home yesterday, and the shelves were full of Federal 550 bricks. I just had to pick some up! $15.47 each. Grab them before the price goes up. The Federal 550 bulk packs just went up to $18.97 in Michigan. Moonlitin

Marlin Model 30 price check

I found a used Marlin model 30 at a local shop last week. It's a 30-30, with a micro groove barrel, and a cross bolt safety, so I think it's the model 30AS. From what I could find out after doing a few quick searches, the model 30AS seems to be a "plain Jane" version of the model 336, but ...

Re: model 92 44 40 HELP!

Welll... there was a post last fall or the one before about a father/son that had taken an original '73 Winchester in .44-40 deer hunting and harvested the son's first deer. I don't recall if they used factory ammo or not. I do know you can hot-rod a Rossi '92 a little more than I'd hot-rod an orig...

How do you hang your rifle on the wall for display?

How do you guys hang a rifle on the wall for display? Have any of you tried the Hoppes solid brass hangers, or do you just make a single rifle rack from a few small pieces of oak, pine, or whatever matches your room? My son picked up this fake Winchester 1873 and wants to display it with the factory...

First deer with a Winchester 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine

I posted this on the other levergun site a little more than a year ago, so some of you may remember it. I referred to this rifle in my first post at this site and someone asked me to post that story again...so here goes. I was fishing in the spring of 2006 with a good friend of mine. We were having ...

Fun at the gun show

Last year a good friend of mine gave my son a Winchester 1873 in .44-40. My son was thrilled, and my friend was happy to see him that excited to have it. In the fall of that year he killed his first deer with it. Some of you may remember my post and the picture at the previous leverguns forum. I'm s...
