Re: ...And that's why you don't go shooting in the desert al

I've ran that Tula .223 through my Mini-14 without a problem, but it was extremely dirty. I can see where much more than a couple of boxes would cause problems for sure. And I've used my own advise of never having an unloaded tool at hand for many years. I shoot at a local gun range that is run by t...

Re: Thoughts on Ruger's "Mini" series

I have an AR and a Mini-14. If I had to grab one and my day-pack on the way out the door in a hurry, it would be the Mini. I've owned both also, and the mini's have always stayed in my possession. It is my opinion that it carries much better than the AR series....more like a rifle should car...

Re: Questions on Marlin 1894 .357 feeding

Thanks guys, I was thinking about the call to Marlin as a fix for this, but if it was something really simple that I was overlooking, then I'd fix it myself.

Questions on Marlin 1894 .357 feeding

This has probably been done to death over the years, but I have a question. My brand new out of the box .357 Marlin 1894 doesn't feed reliably at all. It picks up the cartridge from the mag fine, but when the nose of the cartridge starts into the chamber the shell hangs up on the left side of the ch...

Re: Thoughts on Ruger's "Mini" series

I guess that after everything has been already said about the AR vs. Mini debate..... Go down to your local gunshop and hold each one, "play" with them each a bit, don't listen to the gunshop guru's points on which one is best for this and that, then get the one that feels best in your han...

Re: For sale in Britain!

Considering that I had just seen an 88 on a table at the local gunshow for $800, that is a great price.

Cal .308, and 85+% condition, if not better. No handling marks on wood, just a couple on the metal.

Re: Somewhat OT: Firefly/Serenity

Finally caught the Serenity finale this week sometime, and watched the whole thing at once....instead of catching bits and pieces. Now things made much more sense after that. Watched the first episode on the hulu link, and now would like to pick up the DVD series.... ....does this mean I like it??? ...

Re: ot triple k magazines

Still doesn't matter what firearm the mags are for. Triple K doesn't make the better mag on the market period. Ask pretty much any mini-14 owner..... I've seen Triple K mags may look slightly better than USA, but knowing the functionability is identical I would spend more on a different company's pr...

Re: Marlin 1895g vs 1895 in 45-70

If you haven't shot either style yet, that is the first thing that I'd recommend for yourself (the OP). Getting something that is comfortable for yourself is the best thing that you can do for hunting. I have the fun of being able to choose between the standard and my SBDB: a 16" "personal...

Re: What are your working guns?

Working guns: S&W 19 .357 or a 1991a1 for carry purposes Rifles: lately my working rifle has been a Romanian PSL in 7.62x54R, but I'm leaning on the old Marlin 1985SS a bit more so that I can get back to my roots. Shotgun: A Winnie Defender rests besides the bed, with a Stevens 311H series doing...

Re: The year is almost over, What have you have done this year?

Solidified myself in my work, and can still enjoy it. Kept on remodeling the house we purchased last year after moving for second time in same number of years. Traded for/ or purchased a couple of guns. Made the decision to simplify my current battery. Am still considering how to reduce further.... ...

Re: OT = off topic: what's your homeland defense rifle?

For plugging the roaming hoards of bad zombies I'll pull out my Romainian FPK in 7.62x54R. I can put factory (Wolf Gold) ammo into a deer silhouette at 500 yards very accurately without a rest and standing, using just the open sites. For whatever reason though, I haven't found a decent scope option...

Re: The BEST long range levergun?

At what ranges are you considering when bandying about the "long range" idea with a levergun? For much of anything withint that 250 Yard range, I'll take my Marlin 1895 in 45/70. When you get out farther than that, a Winnie 88 in .308 would do most of anything else that I'd care to take on...

As I recall, if there WAS any cursing it was Nordic, and didn't make it into the subtitles. No nudity that I remember, but there was plenty of violence, given the Viking predilection to plunder pillaging and that other thing! Ah yes, my kind of people. Note the sword on the far left! Thanks ...

How about something like this?

Or this:

Those buttstock cradling slings seem to be able to switch between many different rifles as needed.
