Never give up, your constitution is not unassailable. They are searching for a weak spot every day.

Sorry, that's all I could find. I presume that the dovetail is in the mount for other rifles.

Talley Peep Sight

Requires appropriate rear base which has to be custom fitted with the peep sight.

$68.95 for peep sight only, does not include rear base. In most cases, add $12 for extra rear base. We custom fit your peep sight to the rear base at no additional charge

My original '92 in 44-40 feeds best with a bullet profile similar to the original 44-40 RN. Every attempt I've made to use a FN of significant meplat has resulted in jam after jam. The RN however works flawlessly. NATE has the reason why, if you watch it load, you can see it happen. Even a truncated...

Walls are not really an issue for just about any cartridge you care to name. Granted the 30-30 will out penetrate pretty much any handgun round.
I wonder how the old Remington accelerators would work. What were they, 50 grain?

I know the feeling Iceman, the pile in my backyard is taller than I am, and my street is down to one lane of mostly ice. I was down to Memphis last month though, spring like weather, and weak beer. darn, you US guys gotta get better beer. The Jack on the rocks was good though. More snow tomorrow nig...

Pictured here with a somewhat battered '94 that I took a bull moose with a couple of years back.

Well, to me, it didn't make any sense, but, the cartridge lifter spring was indeed the culprit, and all is now well. Thanks for your interest, and your help.

Re: Which Powder for Plain Base Cast?

In an attempt to cut the cost of my plinking habit, I am going to work up a load for 150 gr Plane Base cast for my 30-30. I would like to get 1500-1600 FPS if possible without leading. The bullets are on order. I am told to expect BHN to be about 20. My research, so far, tells me that XMP5744, H419...

I'm sure our founding fathers would turn in their graves if they had any idea what the Liberals have done to personal fireams possession in this country (Canada). It has become a permanent fight, for all gun owners just to retain what we have. Some of us still have hopes of turning back the clock a ...

Nice work on the backyard, I bet that stone wasn't cheap.

No way could I have a floor like that on your deck outside up here, the winter would destroy it. Lucky dog.

interesting idea.
My rifle does not look original, it has fuller wood than a Winchester, to accommodate my large hands and a much longer stock. I'll have to give that idea a look.

Again Is this an original or Repo. If its a repo why not have the mag tube threaded into the frame. If its an original, mag tube hangar, mag plug w/lip and screw thru mag plug. Winchester had the same problems with the 45-90s and 50 cals, full mag and heavy recoil would cause mag tube to move forwa...

Is the front dovetailed magazine ring present like it should be? The front ring, installed about 4" from the magazine tip, will stop the screw from taking all the stress. Heavy loads are not a problem at all. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/old86/magring.jpg Yes of course, it would have f...

The rifle is a custom gun, no barrel bands, dovetailed mag support, in the forend cap.
It's a full length Douglas premium Octagon barrel.

Damaged magazine pin hole under barrel

Recoil from my heavy loads has broken the screw that goes through the magazine cap, and into the bottom of the barrel of my 1886 winchester. I've given up on those loads by the way, I just don't need them. The pin before it broke, wore the hole in the barrel into a slope sided mess. The magazine wor...

Good work, I've taken down a lot of leverguns, and the 1886, is one of the most complex. Mine is the original version, leaf springs and all.
I used only the parts breakdown, and I survived. I will admit that I had several assemblies apart several times though.

Yup, had that happen on an old '94 I was building up from parts, that time I had too short a screw in the hole. (Don't even think about that line  ) But not this time. I took it apart once more, and stoned the back of the bolt (Carefully), the slides for the bolt stop, and a small nick on the f...

Sticky '94 (Moved from the original forum)

My wife's 1948 Vintage '94 Winchester 30-30 has a problem. It sticks on extraction. Not a reloading problem, I can recreate the issue, by pressing rearward on the bolt with my fingers and trying to open the action. Simply working the action without firing, everything is smooth. I've had it apart dow...
