The powders I expect to use are Hodgdon Lil'Gun and Alliant 300 MP. They act about the same. Both are extremely good in the 22 Hornet from what I am reading. Power came back for me late on Friday evening. I had one large pine tree branch fall into the fire pit which my chainsaw will dismember so I can burn it in place. Otherwise, just fine. The lake is up about 3 feet though.

Did you lose anything or get any of the flooding?

In 22 Mag, I like the HK-300. I bought several 20 round mags long ago and several spare extractors and a spare buffer. Should shoot just about forever.

Well, yes, it's definitely easier to clean the barrel. But mine is a takedown to swap between substantially different calibers ... 348 WCF and 450 Alaskan.

I'm wondering if something like that can be simulated/estimated in QuickLoad by someone on the forum. I'm also wondering if 300MP might not be the ideal powder for that case and capacity ... though many of the newer Alliant powders are not characterized for QuickLoad. I believe it's an Alliant issue...

I didn't realize the Marlin requires such a shortened version of the AK. I was thinking the round on the left was closer to my 2.75" that my 71 eats.

The COAL looks far longer than the 450AK next to it. My AK loads to about 2.75", and I think the '86 will handle 2.88" or slightly more. Perhaps it will go farther ... but those look WAY long.

My inexpensive shooting load (well, less expensive anyway) was the Speer Hot-Cor #2478 (350 grain JFP) over 66 grains of IMR 3031 lit by a WLR primer. I would final crimp with a Lee FCD that was made up specifically for the 450 AK. I'll have to look up the particulars but I think COAL was 2.78"...

I had one once. A WWII issue 1911 that was my fathers. It turned out, the thumb safety was broken. I was pointing it, loaded, at a baseboard with the safety on and pulled the trigger. Much to my surprise, it punched a nice hole in the baseboard. I was lucky to be practicing one of those golden rules...
