I noticed that too, though I don't use max loads. I adjust the seating die to be a little long and allow for the shrinkage. I thought that was par for the course.

Sounds like you need a Weaver 1-3x, it's smaller than the ones in the pics - no flared bell on the front. It's the lightest one out there. Leupold and Swift make similar models. The smaller front objective means you can mount it lower. Your older eyes won't take advantage of the "light gatherin...

Barnes recommends crimping light bullets to increase bullet start pressure. This helps accuracy. For that reason I would leave the case long and crimp as much as possible to increase start pressure. That Barnes XPB is the same length as a 180, it stabilizes like a 180. Powder room left in the case is similar to a 180 - I use 180 load data. They act like 180's without the bullet drop. I would get one with the Barnes 140 grain XPB bullet. I think that's Cor-bon ammo. I do make my own, but with that bullet. A little extra velocity, very accurate, and the best penetrator out there. I did take a small pig with it.
