I had one of that vintage.....worked great. never tried the FTX and not impressed with them in other calibers either.

I have the uberti 1875 in 44/40 and 45 colt, and it does seem easier to shoot than the colt. both versions are very very accurate.

they are full size guns and i believe the volcanics were made from scratch ! also I recall there was someone who posted on here years ago, showing shop made volcanics etc. don't know if that is who did them or not the winchesters are conversions, but all machined by hand and hand engineered.....they...

excellent rifles. just the way I like them - used not abused and ready for much more use, and the configuration with button magazine is my absolute favorite.

I like all those calibers but 38/55 and 32 special are my two favorites.

I have always thought that to be true. I never thought it was necessary to adhere to 38-55 loading levels in those rifles. Might say, on the same page here. in fact Ken waters did an article where he worked with a winchester 94 in 38/55 [ not a current vintage one ] and took the loads up small step...

hf, not sure what you are referring to but, I have a Marlin 375 but they are chambered for the 38-55. But it is a Marlin rifle. just that the barrels for the 375 in marlin and their current 38/55 barrels are probably essenntially the same critter, and you can use the 375 brass in your 38/55 marlin ...

I had one of those, and the bore was about 375-376, so it worked with modern 375 bullets. my old 38/55s are larger bore.... all of them shoot the barnes 'original' 38/55 bullet well, which is .377...it works well in all of mine I use lead bullets as well, and I think most of mine are .378 and .379. ...

I have two of the rossi's .. a stainless SRC 16" and a 24 " case hardened octagon, which is a real shooter.... but my absolute favorite is a uberti 1873 deluxe rifle, beautiful and shoots everything really well....especially the 180 gr loads which I puts into right little groups at 100 yds..

I have a 94 with the bolt peep....it is in 219 Zipper....I think it is a rebarrel….and the receiver was drilled on the side for [ multiple ] different side mount scopes......messed up looking little gun, but it works well, so I just overlook the ugly !
