Re: 1892 tang safety question

Turns out it just needed some Kroil, and a few nudges back and forth on the extended foot that blocks the hammer.
Then, I could get it working with the sliding switch as intended.

1892 tang safety question

I found a clean Miroku '92 w/tang switch. It's stuck in the forward/FIRE position.
Is there some sort of lock-out feature under the switch, perhaps to prevent
inadvertent activaion? I recall that the old method was to rely on the half-cock.

Thanks. :D

Soloution for XS front loose in dovetail?

Hello all, been eons since I have visited here. I happened into a clean '94,with a sadly damaged front sight. I ordered the complete ghost-ring set from XS. Were it not for my arthritis, I basically could shove it into the dovetail without any trouble. Before going further, I want to get her to the ...

The Win 1873?

A young man on U-Lube recently put out a ' Top 5 Rifles for H/D' type video. His 5th place was a levergun, surprising enough, but he uses an 1873.
Since I've never handled one, what would be some reasons why one would do so over the latter designs.

Re: Causing jams with empty cases

My DA Smith .45s could handle empties (from its own chamber) with aplomb. Worked great for tap-rack-assess drills. I had to find 1911, or other, cases with deformed mouths to use for malf-drills. Of course some 1911s may not beat-up their brass as badly as others.

Rifle optics brace the lenses against jarring forward inertia. When the gun recoils back, inertia wants to force the tube innards forward. WHOA, there! At a bare minimum, you should get it into a controlled humidity environment first, and let it get some moisture. You might end up cracking the neck or fretboard just by tweaking a dried-out instrument. I would consider getting this to a local dealer with a luthier on staff.
