The Old Man - A Wilderness Encounter

We came upon the camp quite unawares. We did not know anyone was camped back in these hills and were not expecting to meet anyone. It was a long ways from anywhere. We had been backpacking, heading into the backcountry for several days and it was just about time for us to stop for the evening when w...

I love shooting my 1862 Colt Police .36 but man! This 1851 Navy is running a close race! Took it to the Range today to try out Triple 7 and some home-made 2Fg black powder. I set up at 20 yards and managed to fire about 30 shots an hour. The Triple 7 gave the best results. No surprise as it has give...

I am glad you came through it OK and were able to be help. The problem with those kinds of situations is you cannot tell which is the good guy and which is the bad guy. They both may be bad guys. It could be the good guy took off just to get clear of the scene or because he was scared or wounded.

Thinking about this subject and remembering times when an emergency happened that required I grab a gun, I don't believe I ever made a conscious choice as to caliber. I needed a gun immediately and took what was at hand. Sometimes it was a shotgun. Sometimes it was a rifle. Sometimes it was a handgu...

Never encountered that problem. Your solution may work. Before you do that make sure it's not the cross pin latch that's causing the issue. Loosen the screw and take it out (don't drop the spring :D ) and see if that changes anything.
