Re: Shorter Barreled Leverguns

Like Grizz, I approach rifles having shot, plinked, hunted and generally played with handguns much more than rifles. To this day if I am going hunting I reach for the handgun. When Paco gave me his octagon barreled Rossi .357 I was very grateful for the gift, but it felt like it had a lead anchor on...

UPDATE .. the old H&R pistol

I was shooting the H&R with some test loads and it locked up on me. I could not move the hammer forward or backward. Taking the gun apart I found the spring on the cylinder hand had broken and gotten into the lockworks. While messing with it I over-stressed the mainspring and the end broke off. ...

Re: Shorter Barreled Leverguns

Long before the Federal Government became dictators, Winchester produced the Model 92 with 12", 14" and 15" barrels in addition to the standard rifle and carbine lengths. The short barreled 92's are very rare. This one is well documented and went for almost $75,000.00 at auction. 1.JP...

Without you watching them have someone load one cartridge into the chamber and make it safe, then hand it to you. The magazine will be empty. Fire the shot. Have them repeat it. Do not watch them. Fire the shot. Do this a number of times and at various times have them hand it to you without a cartri...

Elmer maintained that "Super Blackhawk" was a poor name for the gun and that it should have been called the "Dragoon" which fit as far as I am concerned. For me the grip is much too large and too awkward. If I have any other single action grip than the Colt SAA/Ruger XR3 grip it ...

Shooting The Old H&R This Morning

I got to messing around with the old H&R this morning, wanting to shoot it. I had noticed weeks ago that the 9mm case is just a tad shorter than the .38 S&W case. I pushed a .375" diameter round ball on the end of a 9mm case and dropped it in the chamber. Lo and behold it was the exact ...
