Re: For 35 Remington shooters -- bullet mold
Yes, this Lee is no different -- gas check just at or below the bottom of the case neck. But there are no grease grooves hanging into the powder space so I don't think this causes any problem as long as the check is firmly held. The Hornady-type checks I use are very firmly held. Except for the grea...

Re: For 35 Remington shooters -- bullet mold
Gee I wish someone would make a 35 Rem mold with the gas check EVEN with the bottom of the neck. LEE, RCBS and NOE's clone of the RCBS all have the base of the bullet hanging out in the powder space. NOE's version of the RD bullet works, but is out of production. I tried designing my own on the Moun...

I agree with shooting it myself, but it's going to have to wait for a while. It's 9 degrees now and I'll want at least 40 before I go out and sit at the bench. Much to comfortable here by the woodstove. Good day for casting!

Re: 30-30 hits sideways
We only got as far as stickingk a 30 caliber bullet into the muzzle. Only goes about 1/2 way. So, it is a 30 caliber. Need some warmer weather to go further.

Re: 30-30 hits sideways
I never thought that in might be another caliber as it's marked 30-30. I doubt it's been rebored as it has the microgroove rifling. I cleaned it for him and could see no copper fouling problem. I'll call him later and tell him to try a 30-30 in the muzzle

30-30 hits sideways
A friend was over Saturday with a 1970s era 336 carbine in 30-30. He was complaining that his bullets were hitting the target sideways. Even factory rounds! I pulled the bolt and had a look at the microgroove barrel and could see no problem, it was even clean. It seemed to have some slight rust in t...

Re: Slugged my 38-55 barrel
I tried to turn the necks on my brass. It is a little diffucult due to a straight taper case. I found you had to use a sizing die which left a straight case neck for bullet seating. Sizing in such a die will leave a straight section that can be turned.

Re: Slugged my 38-55 barrel
I have a Marlin 336 Cowboy that slugs at .378, A Browning 1885 at .375, a M94 SRC at .379 and a Ruger #1 at .3805. The M94 and the Ruger 1 are problems because they wont chamber rounds with the proper size cast bullets. I opened up the Ruger with a custom throating reamer, but I don't want to touch ...

Re: Lyman M21 receiver sight for 1895. Different lengths?
I have no use for the 21 "DA", But it has been re-blued. I didn't care about the re-blue as my '95 was also re-blued. I have a M64, but I'm happy with the receiver sight. So I guess the 21 "DA" is for sale. I don't know what it's worth though. At $200 I obviously paid too much mo...

It is stamped "DA" on the inside. The outside has the running deer emblem and "Lyman's Pat June 25.1895" Also interesting, the front mounting hole is not counterbored like pictures I see of the 21. it has a slightly elongated hole that is completely flat on the outside and reliev...

Any of the Marlin CL (classics) they are light and came in 218 Bee, 25-20 and 32-20 and with cast bullets would cause no pelt damage nor torn up meat! All would be would be wonderful for your needs, unless you came between a sow Bear and her cubs! Marlin also made Cowboy versions in 32 H&R and 3...

Re: Tang sight for Uberti 1873
I think that bulldog's sight is the one with the interchangeable posts. The elongated rear hole and the knurled locking nut are the clues. The one without the interchangeable posts will save you money and is good for any distance you'll be shooting a '73 at.

Screw for a Lyman 21 sight
I came across am original Lyman 21 sight for my original 1895. I don't think the front screw is correct. It is a slightly larger lever for use with gloved hands. Not as big as Wild Wests nor Brockmans.

Something else to consider, talk to the fellow making the conversion. You need to specify, or at least know what chamber length he is chambering for. There has only been one factory length chamber of 2.120 (plus or minus). The W-W brass is 2.080 which is short for factory chambers. Starline now make...
