Re: Savage 1907 pistol.
I own 2 1907s and did own a third, which was one of the French WWI contract guns. They are a very early, if not the first, semi-automatic handgun that used a double stack 10 round magazine. When most other automatics held 6-7 rounds I would think the Savage could be classified as high capacity. In ...

Sounds like that wreck is an Army Special, which evolved into the Official Police. The 41 Colt was the largest (in diameter) cartridge it was chambered for. Most Army Specials were 38 Specials; the 32-20 was also offered. The New Service revolver was offered in 38-40, 44-40, and 45 Colt. The first h...

If I were in charge ALL rifles would have threads, for three types of tips: 1) suppressors, for quieter practice and safety on the range. 2) bird-cage 'flash hiders', for far more muzzle-protection than a mere 'crown'. 3) a plain-metal thread-protector, for those who prefer the uncluttered, traditi...

. The Belgian T-Bolts are super-accurate, and are well worth owning (I have a T2 Deluxe, below). Saltwood is a possibility on guns made fro 1966-70, so DOM check the SN - but after 40+ years, if there were any saltwood issue with a particular rifle, it would certainly have raised it's ugly head by ...

They DO have a problem. The stocks on these old T-Bolts (I have one - left-hand plain gun with the box, papers, single-shot adapter - that I bought for one of my boys back in '74) were made from blanks that some nameless Browning engineer thought could be quickly dried using a salt treatment. Guess ...

Re: Savage 1899 , 'expert' info please..
This gun is a Model 1895.. The round hole cocking indicator is a dead giveaway as are the long stock cheeks. The brass bit above the counter window is filling a screw hole. Best recheck the serial number. Production estimates run 5,000 to 8,000, all made for Arthur by the Marlin Firearms Company.
