Re: 1894 Win 30WCF

OOPS Fixed it. Now it says 30WCF. For cast bullets I been casting using Lynotype with a hardness of 20-22. I will have to try and cast a bigger bullet. My RCBS mold throws them at .310.

1894 Win 30WCF

A few years ago I purchased a 1894 30 WCF from my mother-in-law after my wife's father died. He was a mechanic and got the rifle as payment for a car he fixed back in the early 60's. It appears to be a special order rifle, with a 26" half round half octagon barrel and flip up express rear sight...

Re: A Bullpup 308 Semiauto

I got the chance to fire one of the Kal-Tech bulpups. It uses the FAL mags, and I have a FAL so mags are avalible and thought it may be a good rifle to have around. I will stay with the FAL. All the weight is in the back of the bullpup design. This causes the rifle to have a lot of recoil. Not pleas...

Re: After market Marlin barresl?

I just received my 444 Marlin back from Marlin repair shop. I had the Micro-groove barrel replaced with a Ballard rifled one. They charged me $155 which included parts, labor and return shipping. Only problem was I asked them to return my old barrel. They did not return it. Only shot it at 50 yards ...

Re: WTK Rossi 45-70

RD thanks. I read your posts for the Rossi. Lots of good information. I need to save a little more then I will get on. Made a mistake and sold my Marlin a few years ago. I still like my 444 better but I do like that big bullet of the 45-70.

Re: The Mountain Men

Movie with Charleton Heston and Brian Keith - Mountian Men. Great movie. Robert Redford was in Jeramih Johnson. My cousin is big into the re-inactment of 1750 to mid 1800 moutian men. He says the most populer rifle caliber from this time was a .40 caliber. Lead and powder was very expensive in those...

I agree with 2ndov. I met John K. aka w30wcf, on Sunday and shot this type of match for the first time. What a great guy. So much information I could not retain it all. Had a great time and shot better then I thought I would. John is a first class guy and a pleasure to meet.
