OT (slightly) NRA qualifications
Has anyone on here got qualified on the NRA scales? I'm talking about:

(particularly high power rifle and handgun).
If so, I'd be curious to see what you thought about it...

Why don't I see the same outcry after a drunk driver hits and kills someone...you never see them want to take away your car.

OT - Iraq Vets and Minnesotans' Military Appreciation Fund
"No matter how you feel about the war in Iraq, Sit figured, it was terrible to watch soldiers coming home to Minnesota, especially the reservists and Guard members, with so little support, financial and otherwise. “One young widow just wrote to me,â€

re: more pictures
I've been curious about mounting a sling on my '94 for a while. Does anyone have any more pictures they can post so I can get a better idea of what the various forms look like?

Lever rifles and Scout scopes
I haven't seen much traffic on it, but has anyone on here tried out a scout scope on a lever rifle and thought well of it? I know that Browning makes a scout scope mount for their takedown BLR, and I believe XS Sight Sytems makes their "XS Lever Scout Mount" for Marlins. I've been curious ...

re: trapper
What a difference two years make. I bought my trapper at the local Big5 for $300. I agree with the comment above about the wrapped lever. Why on earth would someone go through that and then not fire it. Plus the seller isn't rated. Yeah, he could just be starting out...but do you really want to chan...

re: Williams 5D
I've had a Williams 5D on my Win '94 Trapper (.357 Mag) for the last two years. Pros: 1) Fairly cheap 2) Easy to use, just bring a screwdriver to the range 3) It does *not* budge. Now I haven't beat my rifle on a rock or anything, but in two years, I've never had my zero move. 4) It's all weather, d...

why not get the marlin
My local Big5 still carries Marlin in that caliber (and .44 Mag, .357Mag)...But I haven't seen them on sale as much as they seem to be pushing Puma.

GP100 vote
I have to go with the .357 Magnum / .38 Special crowd and say you need to get a Ruger GP100. It's about at the price point you mentioned, and you've got a lot of choices with those rounds. I wrote up my thoughts on my site at:
