The change in manufacturing process, engineering design, tooling, etc. makes it too cost prohibitive. The tube magazine, from a production cost aspect, keeps Henry in the affordable quality, "value", segment.

I remember shooting back in the late 1960's-early 1970's, with a Grizzly. It was 30# IIRC. Loved it and would buy one now, but I don't think Bear makes them any smaller than 45#. 30# is easy on the body.

There are major green house produce operations all over the US. Produce comes to US year round from around the world. There's less domestic production in the Winter, so the prices reflect the imports.

I have a 320 Compact (9mm) and bought a 320 Carry frame so I could use the 21rd mags. I actually shoot it better than my son's VP9 or my 228. I didn't think I would like a striker fired pistol, but this has really surprised me.

Did you try looking at the caliber stamp on top of the barrel just in front of the receiver. :wink: An 1894 receiver is an 1894 receiver. They were designed for rifle calibers not pistol calibers. At least they're trying to expand their product line. I don't know how well balanced a can would be on a 24" verses 20" barrel, but the short mag probably compensates for it.
