Didn't want to hijack YK's thread on military arms

Civil war through WWII/ Korea. Harpers Ferry 1842, Ohio cartouche on the stock. The Sharps is a repro, but I love that thing. I keep reminding my dad that he gave me one of his Trapdoors, but he still doesn't want to give it up. Springfield 1898, .30-40 Winchester 1917. Barrel date; 10-17. Remington...

Jay, There should be a Finn SA in a box proof mark on that somewhere. The 27s,28s and 39s have gotten crazy expensive. I had a pile of surplus firearms when they were dirt cheap. Re: Grandpa's Model 70

Jason, what year was it manufactured? I don't think Winchester repeated the Savage mistake of putting 1:14 twists in their barrels, so it should stabilize bullets in the 115-120 grain range. That is a wonderful rifle you have there. Bill, I'll have to double check, but I'm thinking it was made in t...

Grandpa's Model 70

I've been scrounging and hoarding .250-3000 brass and .257 bullets since my dad gave me grandpa's Winchester last year. He also gave me a few old boxes of brass and reloads, but they weren't stored well and are pretty corroded. I did find some load data he'd written on one of the boxes and duplicate...

For sure. I have boxes and boxes of galvanized stuff left over from my contractor days. I've been hauling treated lumber up there since last year. All I should need is the PT 3/4" plywood. The old man wants to go back with T&G decking. I don't have that kind of time. :D

I am not totally sure why so many of the Mini 30s are not very accurate. I would bet it has something to do with barrel being same outer diameter as the Mini 14 with a bigger bore resulting in a little bit thinner walls. There are a few Mini 30s which are decently accurate. They can be accurized, b...
