Hobbie is spot on. An interesting note - you can acheive the exact same results with a 200 grain hardcast, gas checked bullet at the same velocity. I use Lyman 2 cavity dies and linotype. They are just as accurate as the jacketed bullets and with Lee liquid alox, they don't foul as badly in my 95 Wi...

Well, I am far from an expert in this area but I would look at 416 Rem or maybe if you have some time - see if Ruger comes out with the 416 that I've heard is on the way. This of course is a necked up 375 Ruger. It'd be a better cartridge from several standpoints - better than higher pressure rounds...

nice - how's the bore? I have an older 95 in 30 US (that how your's is marked?) and it's bore was frosted. But a little fire lapping and it shoots like a champ. I like 200 grain hard cast gas check bullets the best - at 2000 fps. Lyman dies and use Lee Liq Alox lube - its the schitz for cast rifle b...

not to start a war, but since when is H110 or W296 (same propellant) not good with cast bullets? These are THE propellants for the heavies IMHO. They are actually a step down in power if you consider that their burning rates are lower, but of course, they generate higher velocities than the fast bur...

I recently bought an old Savage Sportsman rifle. It's a svelt bolt action with stamped steel removable 5 round magazine. The wood is walnut and is dark with age - has a schnable forend. It's chambered in 25-20. This is basically what people used early in the 1900's for general purpose farm use or sh...

yes, pictures for sure. But if you want to know the actual going rates right now, go to the auction boards and do a search - only look at the ones with bids - those are the ones that show actual value or going rate. Gunbroker is a good source. That's what I do and have done well - get what it's wort...

I think they are considered by most to be of slightly better quality - especially internally. That's a great deal. And I don't have a true SAA - mine are all Rugers (also 100% US made) but they aren't true SAA designs... Alas, I've been too busy with purchases and need to let things settle - sell so...

Thanks for the report and pics! Just remember to tap the rear sight out to the right (as you hold the rifle) - and re-install the blank in the reverse order (right to left). The front sight should also be in a dovetail IIRC. You should be able to drift it to the left a bit to adjust for the windage,...

Sources for wholesale/bulk lead alloy
I'm looking for good sources of lead alloy for my bullet casting - I'm willing to purchase in bulk. In general, what are the best places to look for? Travis, as a father of three, I'd recommend shooting at some milk jugs filled with water, soda cans likewise, old apples, or any old fruit - makes a great reactive target. I'd council trying the Lee liquid alox with your soft bullets first. And they will make outstanding deer hunting bullets - just keep your shots within 100 yards. Thsi is basically a muzzle loader. If you want more punch, go to a heavier bullet - if you cast your own, get a 270 grain semiwad cutter R...

OT my recent m700 30-06 purchase
I bought this at the local funshop from my buddy for $295. He did this as a favor - I had seen a Rem 78 in 30-06 that he had and came back to buy it... only he had decided to add it to his collection and put a new 6.5mm barrel on it. So, I guess I whined enough  and he comes out with this othe...

Kalifronia Guys - shipping a cap and ball revolver to Kali?
I have a guy in Kali that won my gunbroker bid for a snub nosed 1860 revolver - any problems you guys know of shipping to him there? I know that in NJ this'd need to go through an FFL... ETAP: I checked the NRAILA site for information and it appears that a cap and ball revolver is considered an &quo...

With rifles, the higher the velocity, the higher the bullet should print. Rifles recoil almost straight back. Handguns recoil up and slower bullets spend more time in the barrel before exiting and therefor print higher than faster moving bullets. If you have a rifle with a stock that has a lot of dr...
