Don't forget to use good light and check for a barrel bulge. They are very common in .32WCF handguns from firing jacketed loads that created too much friction for the available pressure.

Re: 45 Colt velocity increase from handgun to rifle
The problem is that you are operating at such a low pressure that with the longer carbine barrel you are nearing the point that friction is about to overcome the bullet's initial momentum. The situation is common with the .22 long rifle. Velocities normally peak in around 16 to 18 inch barrels. It i...

Having worked with several BLR's over the years, I'm with Brother Wright. With the short action 20" barrel, I can't see a need for a take-down and the long actions have the balance and grace of a grubbing hoe. Accuracy has been fine to great for me.

I would vote for Steve's safety replacement peep for longer sight radius and an XS white stripe ramped blade up front. The blade is almost as bright as a fiber optic without the flare while being a flat topped blade for better definition of elevation and windage.

Mounted my first XS striped blade about 12 years ago and have added several since. I use one on my main game rifle (Browning 1895, .30-06 with a Marble tang) and can bench groups under 2.5 inches at 200yds. Not that bad for 63 and trifocals. My early .223 has performed well for me since I think of it as a walking varminter rather than a bench gun. With factory ammo, this one has always been good for about an inch or so with factory ammo. Handloads will shade that a bit. It absolutely hates the longer tipped bullets, preferring the blunt...

If you experiment any further, begin to think 4064, Reloader 15 or Varget. These even slower powders have suited my .308, bought used in 1974, a good bit better than 3031 and 4895. If they don't pan out, you can always fall back on your 3031 load. Enjoy.
