Sixgun, you do use short brass! My only concern, which may be groundless, is erosion of the chamber just before the throat, due to the short brass. As I said, however, it may be groundless ..... I've heard it raised re. using 45-70 brass in a 45-90 chamber. Probably more corrosion than erosion year...

I know all the usual reasons for a conversion... along with the final one ...."because I WANTED to".... This one I just don't get. The original cartridge is slightly better than the 308, and you can buy soft point hunting ammo for it as cheap as, or cheaper than 30-30 stuff, and it WORKS ...

Hey Frank, still around, though less frequent. I do spend the majority of my computer time on 1911 boards. I was getting a little tried of the off topic posts, folks can say "don't read 'em" but there for awhile it didn't leave much else to read. :( Then when I do happen by, I find this u...

I just tried putting a couple of .30-30 rounds in the magazine of one of my Mosins, and it wouldn't hold them. 7.62x54R is a bigger round, and the .30-30s just weren't fat enough. I suppose you could try fiddling with the interrupter, but I'd be leery of that, because I think you'd end up with ejec...

Not like I needed another project, but should fit on the floor of my car pretty well. :D

Hopefully I can figure out the feeding issue.

Bought 3 cases of their 22 Short's before the end of the year for $1.29 a box. First of the year they jumped to $2.20. Haven't had a bad primer yet and the shoot where my Single Six and 9422 are pointed. Haven't had them on paper yet, but they weren't meant for target matches. :D Also bought some Pi...

Well we only tried two different loads today. Both were with Elephant ffg. The original Lyman 375248 (.378) with 33 grains grouped about 1" @ 25 yds with most shots climbing as the bore fouled. This load might shoot a little better if we had more to try. Lee's new 38/55 bullet (.379) with 34 gr...

I would love to use one of mine, but North Dakota has a case length minimum and the 45 ACP doesn't make it.

Here's some of Paco's loads. I haven't tried them yet, but some of them push the upper limits.

Your load should be around 2,700-2,800 fps I would think.

Could be WW231. 6 grains would be a decent plinker load.

I have never loaded Bullseye. I think it's a finer powder also.

Here's my Ariska in 38-55. It has pushed 270 grains to over 2,200. Picked it up about 8 years ago for little to nothing compared to what it should have cost for someone to build. Loading the shells in the mag isn't any worse than if you've loaded a Swift. Just make sure you don't push the rim behind...

I've only owned one 32 WS, but it did like the Remingtons best.
Although the Winchester and Federals didn't shoot bad either.
