The early euroarms rifles had a different twist than most of the other replica's. Waters commented on it when he used one for a test gun for 44-40 in the 80's. As I read this I caress my per 64 M70 270 with it's 3X weaver. I have made shots to 300 yards on deer with nothing more than the old 3x, but my father in law wouldn't even use a scope on his 270. Between us we had everything Jack ever wrote.

The bolt timing in the Schofield is such that you are going to get a 90% dag mark no matter what but if you follow the good advise give here you can prevent it on your Colt's.

I wear moc's most of the year, canadian moosehide muckluks in the winter. I guess i take my mountain man thing too far. I make my own sioux style mocs from an old patter I made at the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron back int eh 70's.

25-35 will push a 117 grain fp bullet at about 2000fps from a carbine. That would be just about a top end load. I asked the lefty yesterday about his 8's and he said he has never been hit with a piece of brass from one of them. Depending on how adept yu are at one time Numerich had 336 barrels for like $50 each. I may still have a couple, the ones I got were like brand new and have worked well as both replacments and as liners.

So you shot up all your carry ammo and went home empty? Guess when the s#!t will happen? I learned a long time ago to NEVER get caught with an empty gun. But I did drive 100 miles to a M/L shoot with 54 caliber balls for my .40 target rifle.

I'd crimp the case myself but... Those bullets will handle a roll crimp just fine, just don't over do it.
