Yes Franklin Mann tried round based bullets in about 1890 looking for a perfect bullet base that wouldn't tip from gas pressure.
Didn't work.

Beretta is now the parent company of Uberti. At one time Uberti and several other companies, Pietta ect were all in one town in Italy right down the street from each other. Doc Carlson visited the plants and did a write up on it and he has some great pictures of the different factories.

Well it has a lever in the right spot at least. I had to dig out the old target rifles so I can learn to shoot left handed and the 12 and the 12/15 at least have stocks I can still get down on so they were my first candidates. I've carried a belt pouch with a flint and steel with me now for over 40 years. For casual use, pipe lighting and such I use a tinder tube, but I use char cloth and regular tinder for starting camp fires and such. If you need a cheater HOT fire quick steel wool is THE thing.

Even case head expansion is iffy at lower pressures in say 45 Colt. And if you have an oversize chamber it is worse but here goes. Get a good mike and mike the case heads just in front of the rim on a FACTORY fired case. Use that for your base line and any expansion .002 over the base line is too mu...

Yes there are, or rather were silenced revolvers. They were made on Smiith Model 10 HB revolveres with interfearance fit to the cylinder barrel. They were chambered in 38 special and were used by tunnel rats and oters in Vietnam.

At maximuum depth the firing pin can NOT touch the face of the breech. A good rule of thumb is 3/4 the distance from bolt face to breech face but if you are really technical Brownells sells a nice book for $75 that gived the dimensions of most firing pins on modern guns.
