The "cop killer" aspect deals with those intentional made to NOT expand. Obviously Barnes and others that will come later, made to expand, have no issues with the cop killer rule, even though they are a monolithic material.

Yes, the Marlin is too short to handle the 2.8" 348.

I don't think there are any more "good" 358 flat point bullets than 348s.

I'm also going to take a serious look at 50-70 cases. Only problem is that they are more expensive than 50 AK. A lot of people aren't going to want to mess with long trimming sessions and the 50-70 would solve that. Also, a lot of bullets won't crimp in their designed groove with a 1.88 case though ...

I don't think there are any "regular" spitzers that will work in any of the cartridges that the LR bullets are made for. All of them would make the cartridge too long to feed and/or chamber. In case they did anyway; well Darwin still has some work to do.

What kind of lube are you using? I make 40-90BN out of Starline 45-2.6 and they go through like poop through a goose. 99% success rate. 50 to 45 is no more severe than that.

Have you tried squishing a 50 Alaskan into the die and trimming? If I didn't already have 1500 rounds of 348, that's what I would do.

Starline would be great but I would be happy if they just made a short (1.9") 50 basic with a thinner (.058"?) rim.
