My water softener was on the blink and wasn't quite getting the job done. I purchased one of the electronic scale reducers and it lasted for about 2 years. I ended up going with another water softener. The water Softeners in my experience are a lot more cost effective.

When did sales of .45 Colt Government cease? As I recall reading in military history that the cartridge was a stop gap measure to allow Schofields, Colt, and even S&W top breaks in 45 Colt to be issued one cartridge. ISTR it was loaded with 28 grains of powder, vs. the 40 grains loaded in 45 Co...

Re: Best AR gas system for different barrel lengths?
ODIN WORKS has some pretty good adjustable blocks that should still fit under a thinner MLOC handguard. Personally if I were going SBR, I think I would try the .350 Legend. I agree on the 5.56 being too loud on the ears with a SBR without a Silencer. My personal opinion is there isn't enough gain to...

Re: Best AR gas system for different barrel lengths?
With all the caliber variants and special purpose ammo, the AR has evolved far beyond its original form. Does he have any idea which caliber he plans to build? For a SBR it is pretty much a Pistol or Carbine Gas system. If going with the SBR, especially if suppression was going to be in the mix, I w...

Re: REMINGTON 870: The rise and fall of an American icon
I have had the 870 Wingmaster from the 60s that was extremely nice as far as I am concerned for a shotgun. It had a fixed IC choke but held a good pattern out to 30-35 yards. But my favorite has been my 870 Express that also has the 21" REMCHOKE Barrel with Iron Sights. I keep a FULL Choke in i...

My experience (with mine and others) is a new hand cut muzzle crown and 2650fps/165gr bullet tends to tighten things. That is if you have a problem to begin with. I think sometimes too much is expected of this COMBAT/SERVICE. rifle. Not that exceptional examples don't shine. I agree about some expe...

I wanted a SHOOTER so I ordered the SA Special Rack Grade that comes with a new criterion barrel and a new stock. If I don't like it then I can always sell it and make money. I kind of expect the Biden administration to stop importation of these again as I understand was done during the Obama years.

Pitchy you definitely have some nice stoves there. I was issued one of the old military stoves that came in a container that you used to cook on the stove top. It had the folding feet.
