I'm pretty sure that it's an air rifle .After enlarging it a little it looks like the lever has a ball on both ends,kinda like the handle on a drill press.It also doesn't look like it has a hammer .

I saw a program about this on the History channel ,I think.They portrayed him as a loner and a loose cannon .This is how I see gun owners being treated in the future . No one cares if the cops or the government take out the lone nut who collects "assault rifles" and is independent.
