Re: Heads up! Server downtime approaching... Please BTT

Ahhh...the *14th*.

I'll be out of town. But the hotels always have wireless.

I've been working on a couple different projects now, I'm having trouble keeping track of what month is it, let alone what week.

Re: Heads up! Server downtime approaching... Please BTT

Gratuitous BTT and fingers crossed...I'm really hoping this will fix Wind's and AJMD429's log off problems. And as far as your time estimates, remember this coming from a Project Manager and and I.T. guy. "In any project, you will get 90% of the work quickly done in the first 10% of the project...

Wow, what a great story. Thanks for the time to post it.

And for what it's worth, a very suitable competitor to Adobe Acrobat Reader is Foxit Reader. Works just as well, and it's a much smaller program with a lot less memory overhead than Adobe.

Re: Way OT: computer needs "sound device"

odds are you're going to have to have a real computer geek or a thirteen year old kid work on it for you. I'm willing to bet that the person that "helped" you wiped the hard drive clean and re-installed the original Windoze software. What should have also been done is install drivers for y...

Re: Are values going up or down on old levers in your area?

"Bread and butter" guns (30-30's) running used about $275/Marlins and $325/Winchesters at my favorite pawn shop. Other stores, Gander, Bass sky's the limit, prices head rapidly north from there.

Any other calibers, i.e. .44mag 500- $600

AJMD, I'm probably the one that sent the PM. It's just a list of questions, I'm still trying to narrow this issue down. After I sent it, I thought that if you couldn't stay logged in, you may never see it (grin), but like you, I've been too tied up to turn it into an email. Try logging in and stayin...

Re: Forum keeps logging me out

I don't care what anyone says, that there's funny. And don't give me too much credit, I did a lot of higher level troubleshooting at my last job. Now that I'm just a lowly telecommunications technician, I'm rationing my brain cells, but I still have a few left. I've already shot out one PM, but if a...

Re: OT- Romanian M69 22LR Training rifle

You can tweak the mags to make them work. But first, clean it and then clean it again. Same for the bolt. Even after you've gone over it, you'll be amazed at all the stuff that comes floating out. The scope mount rail on top is *smaller* than regular rings. I bought two, I think at $50 each when the...

Re: Forum keeps logging me out

Gee guys, don't you read all the topics and keep up? This was already discussed back in July. (big grin) Seriously, it's the oddest problem I've ever seen and I still don't have a handle on it. It's not Windoze, or IE. I've worked with Wind trying a couple of things and we can replicate it, but can'...

Re: OT - LONESOME DOVE

Something that's always bothered me is at the beginning, when Gus has been out all night and is sitting, tending the fire for his biscuits. When he pops the top on the dutch oven, there are *no* ashes or anything else around. I guess they could say he was just keeping them by the fire to keep them w...

Re: Need help with forum login setting

I have been 'preaching' about Firefox for a couple of years and use it now almost exclusively. Best of all, you can add-on "extension" that block advertisements, rude pictures, all those flashy, floaty things and a lot of other of the B.S. on websites that you have to put up with. I use IE...

Re: OT - Does anyone use Wildblue...

Good points, but may not all apply in this case. First, Wind said he's not using a router, he's plugged directly into the cable/sat modem. Second, on his PC he can go anywhere on the Internet with no problems. So that rules out the base level of connectivity as being a problem. Add to that, he gave ...

Re: OT - Does anyone use Wildblue...

I use wild blue and I've been having the same problem lately. Aha! I've been working with wind on this issue, having him muck about with the IP script and proxy settings, to no avail. It is a very, very odd problem. From his information, he can browse (and stay logged in) on a number of different f...

Got tired of the cops 'n donuts jokes about 4,375 mentions ago. Times have changed.

These days up on the MDT (mobile data terminal) is a double espresso and a Ghirardelli chocolate biscotti.

So there. (grin)

Re: My small adventure on Friday...and with lever content!

Thanks much for the kind comments all around! About the rifle. Front sight is beat up, and no hood. Bet money it's spent a lot of time leaning against the wall behind the door. Rear tang screw boogered (refer to my previous comment about hollow ground screwdrivers) but the lever screw was untouched....

My adventure in gun running, or, How I spent my Friday driving around Eastern KY. Got a call from younger brother early this week. Wanted me to be 'money man' for a gun deal.
