That makes sence. With the high carbon content I imagine that the resistance is next to nothing some were around the hundredths of an Ohm mark. Not enough to heat up to the point of ignition. I still wouldnt temp the fates though all you need is to have a metal partical mixed with the powder to ruin...

We have a bunch of them they are always going on to the ranges and interupting training. I keep bugging the base to let us hunt them even if it is a limited draw but they just blow me off. I got 1 lever and 1 bolt for center fires. The lever is a 94 trapper in .45colt and the bolt is a No4 Mk1. I have a bunch on my wish list but I have yet to come across any thing that those two won't handel. They do tear up rabbits some thing bad though. :wink: :D .

I just caught the first half of this show when I was at lunch I am recording the rest of it right now. They did show one ranger carrying a #4 with a cut down fore end. I thought it interesting that they called the one lion Osama. The # of people killed in that area by lions was astonishing :shock: .

I was watching North to Alaska the other day they were bear hunting and one of the guides had what looked to be a sporterized No4 Mk1. Not that I have heard of but I am no expert. Have you looked at a Ruger single six? They can be had with both .22lr and .22mag cylinders. That would cover what you are looking for. + they are just fun guns.

I imagine that you could size down cast bullets designed for the .303brit. They seem to be the only ones that I can find right now in the grn range that you are lookin for. Check out Lyman or RCBS they have a couple molds for that application.

Keep in mind that those small cal. bbls are HEAVY. a 15/16" bbl with a .40 or smaller hole in it is a hole lot of steel to drag around. Just my .02 cents.

Hey I have no problem with scopes if that is what you have to do to keep shooting. With my family eyesight history I will more then likely find my self in the same boat and have to scope most of my rifles. But until then I will just have to use the irons while I can.

My 94A.E. trapper loves the Cor-Bon 300 grn JSP +p's. For plinking cast 250grn RNFP's with 9grn of Unique shoot just fine.
