Scott, No. It sounds more like a contaminated powder charge to me. A primer (with no powder loaded in the case) has enough power to push a bullet out of the case and lodge it in the bore. In your case, the primer pushed the bullet AND the powder out, but the added resistance of the powder prevented ...

I haven't quite made the 1000 round mark yet, got 250 to go, but I've seen a great improvement in my shooting! I started shooting cowboy lever action silhouette this year, and used the challenge as a training aid. I started out shooting 5" paper plates @ 50 yards from the standing position - no...

Calling w30wcf......

Say there, John, are you organizing another "Pennsylvania Get-together" at the Ridgway club this year? I'm sorry i missed the PA state match at McKean last weekend, I had to work. I'm looking forward to Ridgway, if you're setting it up. And if I'm not "on" that weekend! centershot

3T, I have loaded this bullet over 15.0 gr of Lil' Gun and it worked well, but 14.0 grouped better in my rifle. Loaded it over 11.0 gr of 2400 and it shot 1.25" @ 100 yds, much better than the Lil' gun load, but that's in MY rifle. YMMV. No sign of excess pressure in either load. Good luck! cen...

Meanc,
My "go-to" load for any 44 magnum, rifle or handgun, is:

W-W cases
W-W LP mag primers
24.0 gr. 296 ball powder
Hornady XTP-HP 240 gr

I've used this load for 15 years in a variety of 44's, I have never found anything that would group better in any of them!

Stopper, The "challenge" was issued by Scott T, it was to shoot 1000 rounds this year from the same rifle, using the same load, at the same target, from the same position (shooting from the bench not included), at the same distance, to see how much your shooting would improve. No plinking ...

Scott, Originally, I though "Hey! 1000 rds. is only one box of 357's a week for 20 weeks! Why, that's only 5 months! I can do that!" Welllllllllllll................. it didn't quite work out that way! Between the competition schedule, work, and that blasted "Honey-do" list, pract...
