38 Special rifle load recommendations
Any of you guys load 158 grain jacketed hollow points in a 38 Special case to use in your Marlin, Rossi or Browning rifles? I got 500 .357 jhp bullets for a good price, but am very low on 357 brass. I have tons of 38 Special brass, thus the question. I have a fair amount of Unique, H110 and Lilgun o...

I think both weights have their advantages. I have killed several smallish TN and AL whitetails with the 150 grain corelockt and they have dropped in their tracks. I have also killed at least one with the 170 grain corelockt that was a broadside shot that was a .30 hole in one side and a .30 hole ou...

Robert, It would have been made in 1980 and although the barrel is not labled "microgroove" it will have microgroove rifling. I used to have one just like it made a year earlier that was one on the best shooting rifles I ever owned.

I would have to rank the 300 Savage near the top of the list. It will do 99% of what the 308 will do with noticeably less recoil. Yet, if it is ever mentioned in a magazine article it is only as the parent of the 308. It has almost disappeared from the consciousness of the general hunting public. On...

Personally I would go with the Willimas FP. The 5D works, but it a pain to sight in. I will not buy any more current production Lyman receiver sights. I would have to say the Marlin 336 is much smoother in my opinion. The 94 has always seemed to have "slop" in the action to me. That being said, I prefer the Winchester 1892 action over either. Why Winchester ever chambered the 94 in pistol calibers instead of just bringing the 92 back is ...

I don't believe there is any chance it is anything other than microcgroove rifled with the serial# you provided. The first 7000 or so with the BO prefix were the only ones that were "Ballard" rifled before 1998. Many of the early ones will not be marked as microgroove even though they are....

For hogs I prefer the 35 to the 30-30. The difference in recoil is negligible and the ammo is not that hard to find.
