I didn't realize that Unique was not position sensitive and I guess that was the one I was really wondering about since he did mention the TP. I see the prices on these going up more this year than normal. I think the reason is that since Winchester went out of business, their prices went out the roof so to speak and people couldn't or wouldn't pay the prices that the dealers were asking?

Thanks for the input. The ring is in the neck area and I don't have a clue either how this happened. It was made in 1908 and has the round barrel and from what I can gather from the Madis book, they made fewer round barrels in the early production.

This has been a great discussion. I'd never heard of it being used around here where I live, south of the Dallas/Ft worth area. My grandfather used his old SR 30-30 for many years and then he passed it on to me. Great discussion.
