Thanks guys....I had not considered Reloader 7, mainly because as a relatively new reloader I am unfamiliar with it. Why do you like Reloader 7 better?

H4198 vs. H4895

Every year the wife asks what she can get me for a Christmas present. Usually I tell her to get me a die set. This year will be a set of dies for 45-70 to load ammo for my Marlin 1895. I am in the process of looking into what is the right powder to by to use in moderate to heavy loads with 300 to 35...

Re: A little Off Topic - Dunbar Reloader

Gentlemen, thanks much for teaching me about a whole world of reloading presses I never knew existed. Those CH4D presses are amazing.

Now that I know a little bit more about what I have, I may see if I can get some shell holders and put this thing to good use.

Thats it! Of course it looks a little cleaner than the one I have.

Terry, do you know anything about the history of the press or the company? Maybe how old it is?

A little Off Topic - Dunbar Reloader

I am in the middle of trying to clean out some of the massive pile of stuff I've accumulated over the years. Today's rediscovery was a heavily built reloader with a small oval shaped brand name of Dunbar in both the reloader and the 2 30-06 dies that are in it. This thing is hell for stout and must ...

Re: Colt's New Service

The New Service Revolver is an interesting beast. I believe I read somewhere that it has the longest reach, that is from the back of the grip to the trigger of any double action revolver ever made. Coupled with a heavy DA trigger pull, many people with small hands find it a hard gun to shoot. I have...

Re: Your Thoughts About a 30 Carbine Lever Rifle

Hi RANisbet....As long as were talking .30 carbine leverguns, I'll though in my 2 cents worth on an idea I proposed on Single Actions.com, that is a .30 carbine Auto Rim cartidge. The selection of .308 projectiles is outstanding compared to ones for .312 especially if one is talking about flat nosed...

Yep, by God, it is Hoffman's. I got the Airbob soles, and so far here in Vt, they are working out nicely. I'm waiting for the ice on Champlain to thicken up so I can take them ice fishing. To me, thats the real test of warmth for a pair of boots.

OT - Huffman's boots

At one point somebody, I think maybe Big Sky Danny, mentioned Huffman's boots as being good boots. After much online research I ordered a pair. I gotta tell you, these are nice boots. Just thought I'd mention how much I've enjoyed using something I read about here.

Wow, what a great education in all things 38 WCF! Thank you all. The idea of a trim rifle (Win 92) appeals to me as does being able to hot rod it a little. I don't think I'll be shooting any black powder, and I having never handled a model 73, I didn't know they were possibly heavy. I am going to lo...

Thanks guys. I was unaware that the only 38-40 Marlins are the originals. I was kind of hoping that I'd here that Marlin made them 20 years ago or something like that.

Mybe I'll have to settle for an 1873 clone....

Re: Chopping a ported guide gun

I don't know if this is even remotely possible, but could you have a gunsmith install a barrel band front site that would cover the ports? The muzzle would end up looking like one of the custom big bore pistols Hamilton Bowen does with a barrel band for weight with an integral front site. That would...

I'm a fairly new reloader, having only been doing so for the last 2 years, but I've been using Trail Boss since day one. I too have noticed that there seems to be large regional differences in the way people think and act. I'm originally from a nasty suburban nieghborhood of Wash DC. Are there any gunsmiths who specialize in Savage 99's?

Hello all. Last year when my 84 year old mother in law died, we found a rusty Savage 99E in .308 amongst her things. It's birch stock had a piece busted off both the butt and forend, but the bore was remarkably clean and well preserved. I bought a box of Remington's reduced recoil 125 gr bullets and...

While I found the whole process interesting, what really caught my attention was that the slug became much more difficult to push through th...
