Re: browning 1895 scope mount

That looks great !!! 4 years ? I thought it was bad that I had to wait 2 1/2 yrs for some work done on an original 95. Anymore ...if I can't do it myself I won't bother
I may not live long enough to have a smith work on my stuff.

30-30 WCF

How many of you fine gentlemen, hunt with a 30-30 exclusively. I had an uncle when I was young who had experience with many rifles but preferred to continue to hunt Black tails and bears with his 30-30 . He always said " If you can't kill one with a 30-30 you don't need to be in the woods"...

Re: Lil' accident reloading

Boy. I got one for you, A friend of mine loaded up some 338 win mag rounds, working up loads, went to the range and started at the bottom of the loading chart with rounds loaded progressively higher until he started to see pressure signs. Once he saw the signs he stopped went home and started pullin...

Re: How many Winchester 95 shooters are out there

Well I guess I should add my 2 cents, My G Grand Father had a 1895 carbine made in 1915, I have a photo of him holding it when he was about 30 years old and a photo of him holding the same gun when he was about 70, I have that rifle today, I wouldn't sell it for all the money on earth. He had other ...

Re: What's the gun you have longed over?

Speaking of sharps, had a black powder shoot at our club and a man brought his grandson and asked it he could use his 1859 sharps carbine with paper cartridges so we said sure. That was the first time I really got a good look at one and.... I like it!!!! I've shot the long barreled sharps but there ...

Re: What, no bidders?

Oh Wow, That would look great between my bust of Pol Pot and Idi Amin........Not! This reminds me of a photo my brother in-law picked up at a garage sale, it was a small photo, a print I am sure, in a nice little frame,of Hitler. it was the kind of frame you would have a family photo in. He had it o...

Re: "In Defense of the 30-30 Winchester"

I guess I have as much right to put in my 2 cents as anybody. When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's the best hunter I knew was my Uncle he had mounts on the wall of every room in his house I think. And the only rifle he used was a 30-30, He told me "if you can't kill a deer with a 30-30 yo...

Re: 1893 Marlin

Yeah, I really like the 1893 just wanted to make sure I wasn't over looking something before I fork out the money for one. 95 Winchesters have been my main interest but I have come to appreciate old Marlins as well. :D

Re: 1893 Marlin

Thats what I was hoping to hear, I guess it's the same design as the 1894 chambered in 44 mag I just had never hear anyone bring up why they didn't keep the same design for the 44 mag and the 30-30, 444,45-70

1893 Marlin

I would like to pick your collective brains for a moment, Is there a difference in strength between a 1893 Marlin and a 336 receiver design, I would like to find a 1893 but I wasn't sure if the newer style receiver was stronger or handled a ruptured cartridge better. I thought maybe someone might ha...

Howdy friend I have been burning black powder at Rendezvous since about 1994 here in Ca. Have had a lot of great memories, met a lot of great folks, One Rendezvous near West Point claims there have been rendezvous on that spot for over 170 yrs. Re: OT--Remington model 1100 shotgun reliability

I have been shooting 1100's since 1972 and if there is one gun in my safe that I can count on to function when I pull the trigger its the 1100. Keep it clean and lightly oil the piston and O rings. The O rings are the only thing I have ever replaced and that was only because someone told me I should...
