Re: Original Trapdoor hunting in Hungary.

I've shot one at long range, not sure what they do at 100 yards, probably like my 71/84 Mauser and shoot really high at that point. The Mauser doesn't even shoot to point of aim until 200 yards with a smokeless load that duplicates original ballistics. Very nice video. -Tutt

Family comes first and beautiful rifles for sure! Lots more power available there if you need it, even with Blue Dot. Something slower burning with a magnum primer would take you to the finish line with the most velocity and quite possibly very good SD's and more importantly, ES's in my book. I appr...

I have a few hollow base bullet molds and really like them. They bump up well, and the hollow bases keep the weight forward for a more stable bullet . I would agree with that in many cases. Your "shuttlecock" bullet from badminton! Jim, that is a very sophisticated bullet design at its fu...

I was really surprised and disappointed that the Henry failed as well! My 360 grain Keith bullets from Frank of Mt. Baldy did around 13-1350 fps out of a 20" Rossi in 45 Colt if a remember right. Old Savage might remember more than me. They were a starting Ruger load straight out of the Hodgdon...

I'm actually not too surprised the mag tube suffered a failure. According to my Hodgdon reloading manual, in a 20" barrel, a 300 grain 44 Mag generates 38,800 PSI @ 1473 fps, and these folks stated their rounds were traveling @ 1550 fps. I'm no ballistician, but I suspect that had to be in exc...
