Ranch Dog, thank you very much. I ordered my screws. They come three to a pack and they are on back-order. I waited on the phone at caller #11 for 45+minutes but the customer service people were very nice and did what I needed.

I was taking it apart to thin the wood and inspect for rust. Compared to an original it is a little fat especially on the forearm. It also boasts some very sharp edges near the barrel. The threads broke in the wood which seamed to be swelled.

Rossi 92, broken forearm band screw.

Disassembling my new Rossi carbine, I broke the screw that goes through the forearm band. I am trying to figure out the thread pitch on the screw. .8X1.815 maybe? I believe the diameter is 4mm. I have a 4mm X 1.125 and it is not even close.

Old Ironsights, Junior much missed? I love his website Frugal Outdoorsman, and have read much of his work at Castboolits. He did a great deal of work with the Rossi 92 and the Winchester 94.

A websight called the frugal outdoorsman has a very good tear-down/re-assembly article by Junior Doughtery(sp). I used for my first and had no problems at all.

I am a lasics patient with stigmatism and eyeglasses. I use Bushnell Insta-focus. As the name implies there is no focus, just look. They are fast, simple and treestand proof atleast once. I also used and owned a pair of Jason no-focus binoculars that worked very good.

I bought my stainless 24" octagon in 2011 and it came with the mounting screws in the box for the aftermarket tang sight, as for the thread pitch I have not an answer. My rifle is branded Rossi.

Barnes X-bullet. Craig Boddington spoke on this subject and recommended keeping the shots at one-hundred yards and under for humane, quick kills, most loads in .223 with 50 grain bullets still have right at 1000ft/lbs.@ 100yrds. Shot placement.

The seller also has a take-down and a short-rifle that looks to be a cut down 1894. On the topic at hand, I zoomed in on the barrel and .30 WCF is legible. However, the location of the barrel band and front sight do not appear to be original. As if the smith patterned the gun after one with screw-on...

There was a time I didn't understand the mechanics of the '94 Winchester and it was available in the Ranger trim and less expensive than the Marlin and easier to teardown and re-assemble than a '92. Being made in America didn't hurt it either. Now it is history. The dump truck analogy is interesting...

Does anyone know how many 94's in .357 were manufactured start to finish, all models and configurations including top-eject, angle-eject, grades, etc. total production. Then how does this compare to the Marlin 1894 production numbers? I don't see alot of these.

Same topic, different tool, how about with a Lee Loader, I've not collapsed any bullets, jacketed or not, trying to crimp in the canalure. Am I just lucky or is this tool designed not to crimp too heavy?

To change over the AS model to the latter, do I just add a barrel band and forearm or are the screw grooves in the barrel and magazines different?The reason I'm asking, I'd like to put the Ram-Line stock set on an AS rifle by adding a barrel band instead of the end cap on the forearm.
