Re: Headspace Issue with 1893 Marlin

It has a tang peep, and was grouping in about a 12 inch circle around the bull at 25 yards, the bullets at that time were tumbling. Headspace will never make a bullet tumble at 25 yds , only the wrong size bullet will . Like shooting a 30-30 in a 32-40 chamber . A group of 12" at 25 yds sound ...

Re: Headspace Issue with 1893 Marlin

Try 'em without the gas checks, they might be inhibiting bumping up the bullet. Also, hard cast might just be too hard! I don't shoot gas checks and only 25 to1 alloy . I normally shoot 200 yds , lost my target in the last move . I cut mostly all my own molds . http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z1...

Head space won't make a bullet tumble , sounds like wrong size bullet . You will need to slug the bore .

Re: Question on pan-lubing

It's easier to melt your lube using a double boiler method (put the lube in a soup can, and put that can in a pan of boiling water) and then pour the lube into the cake/pie pan holding all the bullets stood upright until the level of the lube is where you want it. Then go off and forget about it fo...

Re: How about the "most under-appreciated" cartridge!

I think the 284 is a super cartridge , it is the lenght of a 308 and works in short action and with 30-06 volume and a wildcatter dream cartridge .

Re: BEST ACTION: WINCHESTER 94 or MARLIN 336?

I shoot these 2 gun in SASS/CAS matches I can't get the Marlin to slick up as good as the Rossi , But the Marlin breaks down 5 times easier for cleaning . The Rossi I feel more comfortable shooting it . http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z195/dukeboy51/Picture266.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: looking for 32WS info

I would look around for a older 32 spec it will hold it value better then a commemoratives gun which lose over half value when it shot . And both are priced around the same . And for cast bullets 1 in 16 twist is perfect in the 32 sp , alot better that the 1 in 12 for 30-30 . I found IMR4227 around...

Re: BEST ACTION: WINCHESTER 94 or MARLIN 336?

The 336 Marlin , it is easier take down for cleaning , scope mounts easier if needed and more rugged . The Win 94 , the action will slick up better and I like the looks better .. I guess I didnt answer your question .

Re: Got Pants? (kaboom)

Before I go hunting I run a patch thought bore and put black tape on the muzzle of gun , that way NO dirt or water can't enter bore . The air in ft of bullet will push tape off long before the bullet gets near it and don't effect the flight of bullet .
