Is there anyone who can give a short range report about this sight, or tell how well it works on game? It looks interesting, but I, perhaps falsely, suspect that the target will be a bit obscured. Does the height of the front sight need alteration?

You might want to verify which bore size is on the rifle. As we all probably know, there were at least 2 sizes, some being .313 and some being .323, or something like that. Thanks to all! Yesterday I ordered 50 Barnes 250 grs and 50 WW cases - the dealer didn't have more in stock, but that will be a beginning. I'll do some test shooting, and if the bullets proof to be good, I'll go on with them. Otherwise, I will try to get the Kodiaks - 86er's testing seems to promise...
