I replaced the large loop on my "Big Boy" carbine with a standard loop.
The large loop is slower to use, gives no purchase in handling or shouldering the rifle and allows plenty of momentum for rapping the knuckles on fallow up shots.

As per my first post. The .32 Special can be successfully loaded with cast bullets and black powder. More to the point, modern powder or black, the .32 Special handles cast bullets very well.

Most bottleneck cartridges work better with smokeless than with BP. The exceptions are the very large bottleneck cartridges like .44-77SBN, which often shoot better with BP. I love the .32 Win. Spl., but wouldn't ever consider it a better BP round vs. smokeless. It will work, but certainly not &quo...

Learn to reload. The .32 Special was made with cast bullets and black powder in mind. Not really. The .32 Win. Spl. didn't even arrive on the market until 1902 and the first cartridges were loaded with smokeless powder, and jacketed bullets, at high velocity (for that time). I don't believe the .32...

For many years I have been using this formula from "Shopsmith" :
2 qt. toluol or xylol;
1 qt. denatured alcohol;
1 qt. acetone;
Apply with 0000 steel wool and remove as much or as little finish as desired.
