I only carry my G19 in kydex holsters that completely surround the trigger guard, And always watch for obstructions when holstering. Old Savage, I remember him saying he loads 117g and 125g and 87? for small game.
That rifle is his constant companion on the ranch, he goes through a lot of ammo and is always on the hunt for brass.

A friend of mine got another nice muley buck with his original Win 94 in 25-35 this year, it was his first rifle as a boy. I think it was made in 1952.
He has shot black bear, antelope, deer and a boat load of coyote with that rifle.

I don't know what would have been in Sundance in'92. but now we have the Aro, Higbees and a new restaraunt called "The Longhorn".

I saw a BL with the brown laminated stock, I really like its looks and how it felt, however it is stamped (rem), makes me leery, I haven't bought a new Marlin for a few years not sure I would risk the purchase.

I've shot about a dozen deer with it using a 250gr rnfp and 9gr unique back in Missouri, it's always worked just fine.

I use Lacrosse Burlys for mucking in the lot and have a couple of pairs of Danners with goretex, but uninsulated, I wear a good wool sock with liner socks, the Danners are good to 0, if I'm moving around. I had a pair of Sorrel trappers ,but they no longer make them.

Thanks guys, I have a about 500 of .454, and 200 of the .457 and a bunch of unique and a .454 mold.
I need to get some molds at least a 265-270 and maybe a 200

Squirrel season opens Memorial day, I used to hunt a lot of squirrels with my .45 flintlock.

In some magazine articles, he has written some great stuff on using a staff or your pack frame as shooting supports. He wrote one article on his choices for extended treks in the backcountry where he chose a .45 auto, 30-30 with big and small game loads, and a sxs muzzleloader 12ga cut to 14". ...

Just picked up a stainless guide gun and am trying to decide to go with a scout scope or a conventional. I've taken two elk off the place I hunt, both were at 50yds or less. I have LEUP scout scope with XS sights on a Marlin 30-30, but for this rifle I was thinking of a 1.5-5. What are your thoughts?

Will the new model .357 handle the heavier loads or only the colt loads?
On the .45 the cylinders are pretty thin and I wouldn't shoot heavier .45 loads, just wondering about the .357.
I'm thinking about getting one, it would be used for more than CAS and like to use it for hunting and working.
