I just looked at my 2002-vintage Winchester Trapper in .45LC. It too has lousy ejection, always has. The ejector spring is very anemic. A project (not yet to the top of my list) is to seriously stretch that ejector spring to exert some serious ejection shove onto the brass.

I'm in agreement: TIG is the best because it is so controllable. The setup I used had a foot-controller for "heat." You start low to establish the arc, then bring it up to where you want it. If things get too hot you just ease off a bit. And clean too, the gas shield makes the process clea...

I like these old movies. I grew up in Simi Valley, CA where lots of these were made at Corriganville and the Iverson Movie Ranch. And the movie location at Lone Pine: Alabama Hills, I've spent lots of time around there in the Mt Whitney area. Lots of familiar scenery. here's a John Wayne from 1934 ....
