I may have posted a similar thread a few years back, but I don't remember. If it's a repeat, I apologize. I'm considering saving for my first semi-auto centerfire (a process that will likely take years at this point) :D Compared to the AR-15, what's the general consensus? I like the fact that I can...

Re: Thoughts on Ruger's "Mini" series
When you're thinking about one for you and the spouse that is a good reason to get a pair. You could get one stainless and one blued, a his and hers. Who gets what is unimportant, that you have the pair (and maybe a spare, later) is. That's actually exactly what I was thinking of. And I'm sure she'...

It would take a pretty harsh and wide scale disaster to cause the sudden overrun of the countryside depicted in this thread. It would take cities becoming suddenly uninhabitable. There seems to be an assumption that if you live out in the sticks, you're a single family unit alone on an isolated farm. If things get sorta bad, I'm thinking my lever actions and shotguns will help me do everything I'm capable in a hostile situation. Re: Thoughts on lever as bad times rifle?????????
In extended bad times, a lever chambered in something like the 30-30 might be superior to an AR. 1. I'm pretty sure it would be easier to forge parts for an 1894 or 336. These things were manufactured using 19th century tech, so if we reverted to that level again, a levergun would be a plus. 2. in a...

Certain kinds of slugs (remington sluggers and lightfields) fragment completely at close range. I don't think the shards would have enough energy left to pierce walls after passing through a torso. Of course, a miss is another story.
