I burned 7 or 8 cords every winter when I lived in Oregon for 19 years. Mostly Old Growth Douglas Fir. An axe would generally bust off a chunk about every lick if it was straight grained, might use a wedge a few times in a session of splitting. I miss it, good exercise.

I have always like DuVall, any part he ever played. IUn the lonesome Dove, no one could have out done him. But in Open Range, it is his crowning achievement. I love that movie, and it is worth watching many times over a period of time. Why can't we get more westerns?, isn't Selleck still up to it?

Every deer, and the one elk I killed, all fell to Winchester Silvertips. Never had one get up, or run much at all. The .22's I tend to look for sales for plinking ammo, but Federals have worked good, and the green box too. I guess my favorite .22's were the Peters, real clean and bright looking ammo.
