Each gun will tell you what it likes. You SHOULD NOT get more leading with a .001 increase but..... you never can tell. When I lived in the woods of Maine we kept a 1895ss stoked up with 405 grainers by the door for vermin of all types two and four legged, and a marlin 336 30-30 for her cause she didn't like the recoil of the big brother. We had horses and were on the lookout for wolf and bear ....mostly. Tom

I can't help with the why but I can tell you that a deer won't go within 50 yards of a dog, so this might be an answer. Also might try whacking them in the rear with a bb gun. it won't hurt them but startles the wee out of em.Tom

Casatahle, I have a little wire clip that came with mine that has a place to clip a lanyard to it, I don't know if yours had one or not but mine was in the box and had to be installed(keeps it from rolling around too). Tom

Look for Egan hill plantation. Keith is a real nice guy. I have hunted with him 6 or 7 times and always had a good time. He has recently moved to a new location near florida and I haven't been to the new place but he is a good dude. Tell him 'FAT TOMMY" told you. Good luck it is a fun hunt.

I think Tutt may have stumbled on to something when he said he is new to the firearms thing. When I was in my mid 20's(10 years gun experience) you would not have caught me with a 30-30 any where around me. I had to have a big boomer, the 30-30 was still there but it eventually got sold off to trade...

#1 It is the Ford truck of the gun world! Sure there are others that shoot farther, faster, louder ,impress the guy next to you more ect.ect.ect but it does it all. What is wrong with micro groove and cast boolits? I have both Marlin and Winny's and my Marlins with cast boolits are at least as accurate as my winny's if not more so. I want a FCD and a zip trimmer for my 33wcf lee makes the dies(I own a set) but they don't list either FCD or trimmer. I see they offer to make this stuff custom but I don't know about turn around and stuff like that. Any info or personal experiences? Thanks Tom
